Questionmark Proctoring Hub

Proctoring Hub

Our proctoring hub brings together the latest resources and insights on proctoring. Questionmark offers a range of proctoring services that help prevent cheating and increase the integrity of assessments.

Proctored tests are common in certification and academic exams, where the results contribute to a certificate or qualification. Proctoring (or invigilation) increases the integrity of tests and exams by making it harder for a test-taker to cheat or to copy the exam questions to pass onto others.

In workplace exams, employees are often trusted to follow the rules, though proctored tests are commonly used to better ensure integrity.

During the coronavirus crisis, proctoring may be essential in helping both business and academic organizations carry out their core activities.

USE CASE: REMOTE TESTING DURING COVID-19

BASIS is an independent standards-setting and auditing organization for the pesticide, fertilizer and allied industries

BASIS, like most organizations, was disrupted by COVID-19. Lockdowns meant in-person testing was not possible. BASIS accelerated its move online with Questionmark and introduced Proctoring Record and Review to be able to test and validate candidates and professionals remotely. Due to its success, BASIS could continue to deliver its industry critical assessments.

A range of proctoring services to suit different needs

Proctoring Record & Review

We provide an automated system that observes and records the exam session on video, for potential review later. The remote proctoring system flags potential anomalies, such as a second person on screen. When the anomaly is flagged, the customer can review or Questionmark can.

Proctoring Record & Review gives customers the flexibility to deliver assessments anywhere, anytime while maintaining exam integrity. Remotely proctored exams are widely used in universities, colleges and workplaces.

Proctoring Online

We provide an online proctor who supervises a test-taker using the webcam and audio built into the test-taker’s computer. The proctor confirms the test-taker’s identity and can pause or terminate the assessment if they see suspicious behavior.

Proctoring Online enables assessments to be taken from home or office, removing the need to travel to a test center, without compromising on security. Such proctored tests are widely used in certification programs.

Proctoring Onsite

We enable customers to proctor individual test-takers or a group of test-takers in-person and onsite. We provide the tools to start, pause, un-pause and stop tests for an individual or group within a test center and to monitor a group’s progress. Proctoring Onsite helps protect content and reduce cheating, increasing the validity, reliability and defensibility of exams.

Online or test center proctoring: which is more secure? A 2020 view.

Prior to Covid-19, there was a trend from test centers to online proctoring. Covid-19 has hugely accelerated this with many more programs using online proctoring and the change is here to stay. But which is more secure?

WEBINAR: How to Use Online/Remote Proctoring in Compliance with Privacy Laws

COVID-19 has accelerated the move from delivering tests and exams at training centers/test centers to delivering them at home as part of distance learning or certification. Taking a test at home is much more convenient than having to travel, but how do you ensure the test-taker doesn’t cheat? The usual answer is to have a remote proctor (invigilator) observe the test-taker over video. But how do you do this respecting test-taker privacy concerns and in compliance with US and European privacy laws including the GDPR?

In this webinar, we explore the latest guidance and current legal situation to help you use online/remote proctoring respecting privacy rights and laws.
